"Responsible AI" Initiatives
The Kyocera Group has established the "Kyocera Group AI Ethics Principles" to ensure the proper use of artificial intelligence (AI). By implementing these principles, we aim to provide better value to our customers and society while addressing issues such as safety, fairness, and privacy.
To put these principles into practice, we will establish a new AI Ethics Committee and enhance internal education and AI literacy to ensure that each Kyocera Group employee can appropriately utilize AI technology.
Kyocera Group AI Ethics Principles
In recent years, advancements in AI technology have not only generated new methods for problem-solving and insights but also introduced unforeseen challenges in areas such as safety, fairness, and privacy. The Kyocera Group, while addressing these new challenges, aims to grow further and contribute to societal development through AI technology.
To achieve this, we have established the "Kyocera Group AI Ethics Principles," which outline the principles for the responsible development, provision, and utilization (hereafter referred to as "utilization") of AI technology.
Since its founding, the Kyocera Group has adhered to the Kyocera Philosophy, which bases judgments on "What is right as a human being." This philosophy is grounded in the primitive ethics, morals, and social norms that humans should naturally possess, and it has guided our fair and just management and business operations. This approach represents a universal values that remain unchanged regardless of technological advancements or societal changes. The "Kyocera Group AI Ethics Principles" specifically define how to practice these universal values when utilizing AI technology.
To contribute to the advancement of society and humankind, the Kyocera Group will promote the utilization of AI technology in accordance with the "Kyocera Group Ethics Principles" and will work together with people around the world to tackle societal challenges.
Kyocera Group AI Ethics Principles
The Kyocera Group, based on the Kyocera Philosophy of "What is right as a human being," aims to be a corporate group that contributes to the advancement of society through the practice of universal values. In the development, provision, and utilization (hereafter referred to as "utilization") of AI, we will implement the following principles:
Utilize AI to Contribute to the Advancement of Society and Humankind.
We proceed with the utilization of AI when it is recognized that it contributes to the advancement of society and humankind, considering in advance the impact and results of utilizing AI in all corporate activities, including providing products and services.
Strive to Ensure the Safety and Robustness of AI.
We will work to ensure safety so that products and services utilizing AI operate as designed and enhance robustness so that even when adversarial inputs or data poisoning occur, the AI can maintain performance and stable operations.
Practice Fair Corporate Activities Without Discrimination.
We strive to eliminate any unfair biases and discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, etc., in the utilization of AI, including its output results, and ensure that there is no lack of fairness.
Acknowledge the Importance of Accountability and Provide Information Appropriately.
We strive to ensure transparency in the output results of AI and fulfill appropriate accountability.
Respect Privacy and Intellectual Property Rights, and Protect Them Appropriately.
We respect privacy and intellectual property rights, and protect them appropriately based on applicable laws and regulations.
Adapt and Comply with All Emerging International Trends, Laws, and Regulations.
We will continuously adapt to and comply with the ever-evolving international trends, laws, and regulations regarding the utilization of AI.
