DataBank IMX is a specialist in process automation and data solutions based in Huntingdon Valley, PA. The other side of the partnership is Sunset Point Software, creators of the decommissioning solutions “Legacy Snapshot” and “M&A Snapshot.” Sunset Point’s patent-pending RoDA (Robotic Document Assembly) technology leverages AI and RPA to extract and operationalize critical data from outdated systems. Together, these companies aim to make legacy data not only accessible, but also actionable, ensuring compliance and unlocking long-term value for enterprises.
For engineers and technology professionals in particular, this trend is significant and worth following. As enterprises increasingly adopt modern IT infrastructures, the ability to seamlessly decommission outdated systems without compromising historical data is becoming a cornerstone of successful digital transformation. Engineers and IT professionals must now consider how AI-driven solutions like RoDA can play a role in unlocking the full potential of legacy data.

"Sunset Point Software is addressing a critical challenge that enterprises face when modernizing their IT ecosystems," said Rick Johnson, Head of Investments at the Kyocera Venture Fund, the corporate venture capital arm of Japan’s Kyocera Corporation, who is backing the partnership. "Their innovative approach will be instrumental in helping organizations make the most of their legacy data as they move forward."

One sector in particular where Sunset Point Software’s M&A Snapshot is gaining significant traction is healthcare. As regional healthcare systems acquire local doctors’ practices, M&A Snapshot streamlines the process of consolidating legacy patient data to minimize information loss and facilitate a smoother transition for both patients and healthcare providers.
"Companies are quick to implement new software but often lack a clear strategy for retiring outdated systems, leading to unnecessary costs and risks," explained Chad VanNorman, CTO of DataBank. "This partnership provides a structured, efficient process for decommissioning, allowing businesses to transition while retaining critical information."
The collaboration doesn’t stop at general-purpose solutions. As part of their agreement, DataBank and Sunset Point Software plan to develop industry-specific tools tailored to address unique compliance and data preservation needs across various sectors. This evolution signals a future where legacy system decommissioning becomes not just a necessity but a well-defined discipline within enterprise IT.
