The "Super Blue Moon" was a hot topic this Summer in Japan when the moon was the largest visible size of the year.
Kyocera's Fine Ceramic Division commemorated the event by building a custom-made Fine Ceramic telescope* and held a viewing party at our factory in Shiga Prefecture, Japan.
The ceramic telescope was made of "Fine Cordierite," a low-thermal-expansion ceramic material widely used in the astronomy and space industries, including at the Subaru Telescope in Hawaii!
After carefully calculating the moon's direction and the best time to take a photograph, the team could successfully observe the super blue moon on the day!
We even took a picture through the telescope eyepiece using a Kyocera TORQUE smartphone!
