Kyocera Corporation (President: Hideo Tanimoto; "Kyocera") today announced that it has been recognized among the Top 100 Global Innovators 2026 by Clarivate, a leading global provider of transformative intelligence. 2026 marks Kyocera's fifth consecutive selection and 10th overall appearance on the list.
Clarivate's Top 100 Global Innovators list comprises organizations that demonstrate consistent, above-the-bar innovation excellence at the very top of the global innovation ecosystem. Clarivate comprehensively evaluates innovation excellence based on four factors: Influence, Success, Geographical Investment, and Rarity, to identify the 100 innovative organizations at the pinnacle. Honorees have been announced annually since 2012.
In 2026, a total of 32 Japanese companies were selected as part of the top 100.
The fundamental policy of the Kyocera Group is to safeguard the outcomes of our research and development through intellectual property (IP) protection, utilize IP to foster business growth, and respect the IP rights of other organizations.
Kyocera's intellectual property division closely collaborates with business units to promote IP activities. Leveraging an information analysis approach that combines IP factors with other business, scientific, and technological trends--known as the IP landscape--the company integrates IP strategies into initial business planning to reinforce each segment.
Furthermore, the Kyocera Group has established an Intellectual Property Website, which introduces some of our proprietary technologies and strives to create business opportunities with external partners.
As part of our long-term corporate value creation strategy, Kyocera will continue to strengthen our intellectual property and leverage business assets to drive future innovation.
Methodology
The evaluation and selection for the Top 100 Global Innovators 2026 are based on a twin-track approach:
Track 1
Identify innovative organizations that meet certain qualification criteria based on volume, including:
1) More than 500 IP applications filed since 2000, and more than 100 granted inventions over the past five years (2020-2024).
2) Compare innovators based on the proportion and significance of international inventions (ideas patented in multiple countries or regions) and derive "International Factor".
Track 2
Evaluate all inventions and score them based on four factors of "Invention Strength": "Influence," "Success," "Geographical Investment," and "Rarity." Add "International Factor" and determine the Top 100 Global Innovators.
