Kyocera has many patents for "Vibration Speaker" which changes tables and walls to speakers.
Some ceramics have a property where they vibrate in response to electricity. They are called piezoelectric ceramics, and speaker technology and many other technologies can take advantage of their vibration properties.
Kyocera has considered incorporating a piezoelectric ceramic into a smartphone as shown in the diagram above. This smartphone can transmit the vibration its piezoelectric ceramic to a table, wall, etc.
The table and wall themselves will vibrate when the smartphone transmits the vibration of its piezoelectric ceramic. In turn, the vibration of the table and wall vibrate the surrounding air and generate rich sound (as shown in the diagram below).
Kyocera has developed a "vibration speaker" where a smartphone can change a plane plate into a speaker when it comes into contact with a smartphone that has a piezoelectric ceramic equipped. Although this vibration speaker has yet to be commercialized, Kyocera has obtained many patents for the vibration speaker mainly in Japan and the US.
