A Kyocera Document Solutions plant in Vietnam is driving energy efficiency by intelligently utilizing surplus electricity from its solar power system.
After installing solar power in March 2023, the plant faced the challenge of effectively managing surplus generation on non-production days. To overcome this, they implemented an innovative approach: repurposing this excess power for the factory's air conditioning and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). This strategy has successfully eliminated energy waste and boosted operational efficiency.

Key initiatives include:
Optimized Air Conditioning: Surplus solar power is now used to precool facilities on weekends and holidays. This significantly reduces the air conditioning load on subsequent production days, resulting in substantial energy savings. The successful outcome was achieved through test operations and the thorough collection and analysis of data.

Efficient AGV Charging: AGV charging is strategically scheduled for daytime on holidays, when solar generation is high, and factory consumption is low. This has led to a dramatic reduction in purchased electricity and associated costs, driven by detailed analysis of solar output and factory power usage.

Kyocera remains committed to using innovation and data analysis to further initiatives that maximize the effective utilization of our self-generated power, contributing to both environmental sustainability and operational excellence.
