Summer Nights Sparkle with Fireflies at Kyocera's Shiga Yasu Factory

Do you know there are over 2,000 species of fireflies around the world?
This fascinating fact comes to life each year at our Shiga Yasu Factory in Japan, where we celebrate the magical firefly season. At the heart of our factory lies a unique biotope--a miniature recreation of Shiga Prefecture's famous Lake Biwa, but at a 1/5000 scale.

Special for this year, as part of our ongoing commitment to biodiversity and environmental stewardship, we released 100 new Genji firefly larvae (a generous gift from a local shrine) into this special habitat and carefully nurtured them.

On summer nights, the grown Genji fireflies illuminate the garden with their enchanting glow--a beautiful reminder of the importance of preserving nature's wonders.

As our biotope manager explains, "We are dedicated to maintaining this sanctuary so that many species can thrive in harmony. Our efforts to nurture fireflies and protect local biodiversity will continue into the future."

We are already looking forward to next year's firefly season and remain committed to supporting a sustainable environment for generations to come.
