As engineers, we face many tough decisions every day. Technical skills are important, but our choices and behavior can greatly affect our teams, projects, and even society. When we are busy, we may find ourselves lacking the time to stop and think if we are doing the right thing. But to grow as professionals, it's important to regularly look back on our actions and thoughts.

In those situations, let's try to remember the words of Kazuo Inamori.

"If we wish to improve ourselves, we must examine our daily judgments and behavior humbly and severely to see if they are 'just and fair, right as a human being, and without greed or arrogance.'

Only by remembering our ideal selves, and correcting ourselves by saying, 'Do not behave in an ugly manner,' or 'Don't be such a coward,' can we begin to avoid errors.

Being busy, we tend to lose ourselves in the shuffle. Consciously reflecting on our behavior is a habit we must still acquire. That is how we correct our faults and improve ourselves."

It's common to get lost in the rush of daily tasks, but making a habit of self-reflection is a key step toward becoming not just better engineers, but better people.
