Kyocera's primary subsidiary, Kyocera Europe GmbH (KEG), was established as a joint venture in 1971 and is based in Esslingen, just next to Stuttgart, Germany. It has further subsidiary companies in France, the UK, Italy, and Denmark in addition to two fineceramics manufacturing facilities in Germany. Led by President Yusuke Mizukami, KEG has nearly 1,500 employees and serves as Kyocera's European headquarters. KEG is primarily responsible for the regional sales and marketing of a variety of products including fineceramics, automotive, semiconductors, electronic components, printing devices, displays, kitchen products, and industrial tools.
KEG has been involved in several cutting-edge projects in Europe. One of its most notable accomplishments is its role as a supplier of state-of-the-art components for the International Space Station (ISS), for which Mannheim-based KEG subsidiary Kyocera Fineceramics Solutions GmbH (KFSG) provides ceramic tubes that can measure precise oxygen levels aboard the ISS. KFSG carried out extensive research and product testing to ensure that its products could withstand extreme environments. To make these types of innovation possible KEG encourages a corporate culture of cooperation facilitated in part by an open office environment and frequently updating all employees on the company's performance. KEG believes that this management style enables team members to quickly address the challenges that arise from its diverse European customer base and makes it well-positioned for future success.
