Excerpts from Kyocera's Takumi Video Series
Takumi: Part 1
Mr. Kajiki, head of Kyocera's Fine Ceramics Business Division, visited Senmaruya, a specialty shop with a 221-year tradition of making Yuba, a Japanese delicacy made of tofu, in Kyoto's Sakaimachi-dori district. Kyocera delved into the skilled craftsmanship of the artisans involved in Yuba making, a tradition deeply rooted in Senmaruya's sincere approach to monozukuri.
Takumi: Part 2
This segment features Kyocera's LED lighting system, used at Gion Saito, a 180-year-old kimono store. Kyocera's LED lighting system plays a crucial role in illuminating the intricate details of hand-made kimonos, enhancing the customer's viewing experience.
Kyocera engineers visited the shop and discussed the manufacturing method of Obi, which is woven by hand, and the colors and patterns created through the artisans' keen sensibilities. Kyocera's LED lighting, which reproduces light close to natural sunlight, illuminates the beautiful Obi, uniquely enhancing the colors and patterns.
Through this series, Kyocera hopes to introduce Japanese takumi craftsmanship to a wide range of people in Japan and abroad. We aim to promote dialogue about the attitudes and philosophies surrounding traditional craft artisans who strive to pass their expertise to future generations.
