Did you know Kyocera's jewelry business is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year? Our entry into the jewelry business in 1975 was driven by a sincere desire to bring the joy of wearing beautiful gemstones to more people around the world. At that time, gemstones were sometimes sold at high prices regardless of their quality, making them inaccessible to many people. To solve this issue, Kyocera began exploring ways to recreate the beauty of gemstones, eventually utilizing the crystal-growing technology we developed through ceramic manufacturing.
Half a century later, Kyocera's gemstones are grown in our laboratories in Japan, eliminating concerns about the effects of harsh mining conditions on workers and the destruction of the natural environment. As a result, our gemstones are now gaining attention as ethical alternatives to natural stones.
Although times have changed, our original dream--to bring more happiness to people's lives through accessible and ethical jewelry--is still at the heart of everything we do.
