"ENGINEERING THE FUTURE" delves into the stories of the engineers aspiring to create the technologies of tomorrow. In collaboration with Discovery, we explore the minds of engineers who embody a spirit of challenge and curiosity. Discover the future they envision at the intersection of advanced technology and a passion for creation.
Episode1: “A Challenge to the Unknown”
- Underwater Wireless Optical Communication
Modern society relies heavily on networks, but underwater connectivity remains a significant challenge due to the limitations of radio waves. This project is an innovative attempt to realize underwater wireless optical communications using GaN lasers. The developer, Ishido was not originally fond of the sea, where it is easy to feel isolated and alone. However, he is now taking on the challenge of the unknown to create a new form of underwater information exchange and bring about positive change in the world.
Episode2: “Curiosity”
- The Aerial Display
Discover the high-definition, high-quality aerial imaging device that can display realistic visuals as if they’re floating in mid-air. Shimose, who is in charge of the technical development of this product, says that his curiosity stems from watching science fiction movies as a kid. While facing repeated setbacks and hardships, he has approached development by pursuing his interests to the very end.
