As we celebrate World Environment Day on June 5th, we also welcome the official launch of the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030). At Kyocera, we believe we are living through a pivotal time during which, no matter how small, each one of us can do our part to prevent biodiversity loss and improve the environment.
To support the local ecosytem and improve the environment, Kyocera began raising fireflies at our Kagoshima Kokubu production facility in 2009. With cooperation from local firefly experts, we are working to improve the natural environment around the pond and create an environment where fireflies can prosper in a natural environment. Thanks to their efforts, adult fireflies fly around the compound every year and helps raise employees' awareness of environmental conservation.
