Ceramic Application for Hot-Press Machine Holder

Component manufacturing processes use hot-pressing machining tools to produce multilayer components. However, producing multilayer components requires high-accuracy vertical directional control, and the tooling surface of the hot press needs to reach temperatures as high as 400 degrees Celsius for pressure bonding.

Conventional machine tooling holders use cement on the surface material. However, when the machine reaches high temperatures, the cement part would deform, causing the surface to expand in a process called thermal expansion. The resulting thermal expansion then degraded the final component yield.

To solve this issue, Kyocera introduced Fine Ceramic solution using Zirconia-type ceramic to reduce the machining tool's thermal expansion and achieve significantly higher dimensional accuracy than with cement.
