June 17, 2009
Kyocera Corporation (President: Tetsuo Kuba) today announced that as part of its environmental protection activities it will be turning off lights at its facilities and billboards across Japan in order to help cut CO2 emissions through its participation in the "CO2 Reduction / Light-Down Campaign" which Japan's Ministry of the Environment has been organizing since 2003 to mitigate global warming.

The campaign will run for 18 days from June 20 through July 7, 2009. During that time, Kyocera will turn off lights at 22 facilities in 16 locations*, including the garden area which is open to the public at its headquarters in Kyoto City.
* Hours vary by location.

Furthermore, Kyocera will completely shut down all lights at its facilities across Japan from 8 to 10 pm on the two days designated by the Ministry of the Environment for "Black Illumination 2009" - the day of the summer solstice on June 21, and for the "Star Festival Light-Down" on the day of the Star Festival on July 7. Also, at 36 facilities in 22 locations, Kyocera Group companies will shut down the lighting of main manufacturing facilities' signs and 3 neon billboards.
