Kyocera Corporation (President: Makoto Kawamura) today announced the co-hosting of the Legends Tour (senior tournament) with the Ladies Professional Golfers Association (LPGA) (Chairperson: Hisako Higuchi) at the International Golf Resort Kyocera (Satsuma-gun, Kagoshima Prefecture) in October this year.
Ladies senior golfers and amateur golfers are eligible to participate in this professional golf tournament. In addition, Kagoshima Prefecture and Satsuma-cho, which will host the tournament, are providing support. KYOCERA and the city have united to organize this tournament. Since it is the only professional golf tournament held in Kagoshima, it also has the support of a number of local volunteers, and is gradually becoming more widely recognized. An increasing number of spectators attend this tournament every year. This year's tournament is the third time it has been held. Kyocera Corporation is arranging to host over 1,000 spectators, a record high for the Legends Tour, and add further excitement to the tournament.
To encourage a number of people from all over the country to participate, as well as local people, Kyocera will hold an exhibition of local products, which was popular at the previous tournament, and a tee marker contest, in which Satsuma-cho elementary school students can entry with their original tee markers. In addition, in cooperation with the LPGA, Kyocera will also hold a junior golf lesson session. It is planning to provide lessons conducted by professional golfers. This session is not just for junior golfers who aim to be professional golfers in the future, but for children who have never played golf before to give them the opportunity to gain interest in and feel familiarity with golf.
Kyocera holds this tournament in hopes of revitalizing the local economy and bolstering recognition of ladies senior golf, with the support of the host city, Satsuma-cho, Kagoshima Prefecture.
