Appropriately fitting with Casio’s SHEEN concept of “Elegant, Smart and Shining,” the new SHW-1503D features synthetic opals cut into diamond shapes, and set where the hour numbers would normally be. The unique sheen of opal and its shimmering iridescence, which changes with the light, represents the radiant beauty emanating from within a woman, highlighting her essence with an elegant design.

Other Applications of Kyocera Decorative Materials on Casio Watches

Kyocera’s synthetic opal material was also used in the Casio GLS-5600KL, which is based on the popular square faced G-Shock 5600 series. The watch uses a glossy resin material to create an energetic feel for its target market of fashion conscious males in their teens and twenties, and Kyocera’s Kyoto Opal material is used in the design around the number display. The Kyoto Opal material was thinly sliced and cut into 2.3H X 2.6W (cm) size parts for use on the watch face.
Kyocera recrystallized ruby used in Casio’s G-Shock brand MR-G Series
(ruby is used in the city code display design ring)
Kyocera’s recrystallized ruby material was utilized in the design of the limited-edition model MR-G, the highest-end series in Casio’s shock-resistant G-Shock brand watches. 4.85 carats (approx. 0.97g) of Kyocera’s recrystallized ruby was set into the inner-casing around the numerals in the city code display* design. The recrystallized ruby rough stone is precisely cut into a ring shape of roughly 3cm in diameter — a size and shape that otherwise could only be made possible with natural ruby if the highest quality stone was used. Furthermore, the pure ruby-red coloration only attainable in a recrystallized ruby is the perfect embodiment of the MR-G’s theme color, Japanese traditional deep red, and boldly expresses the strength and beauty of the watch.
Kyocera’s recrystallized gemstones — including the representative emerald, ruby and sapphire — are born from the company’s crystal technology and possess the same composition and structure as naturally occurring gemstones, but with fewer internal flaws and impurities.

* “City code display” refers to the inner design ring around the numerals which lists the three-letter city codes of major international cities.
