Description

This book provides a 20-year history of Kyocera based on extensive notes recorded by the company's second president, Masaji Aoyama, originally presented in 25 serial installments in the company newsletter Keiten Aijin (Respect the Divine and Love People), Issues No. 62 (January 1978) through No. 88 (December 1983). Combined into a single volume, this book was published to commemorate Aoyama's retirement from his role as an auditor.

In the foreword, Aoyama states, "Having walked alongside Inamori for over twenty years, I decided to carefully retrace how he built today's Kyocera step by step." The book includes exclusive new information, including statistical data on the company's performance from its first year of operation, changes in personnel systems, the expanding number of "amoebas" (small business units), and even a meticulous record of company parties.

Description

This corporate history of the Kyocera Group was produced to commemorate its 50th anniversary. It is an extension of the company's 40-year history published in 1999, with the decade of April 1999 through March 2009 added. It was compiled under a policy to emphasize accurate recording of our journey, organizing various related materials for the next generation, and creating an educational resource as noted in the "Postscript."

In reflection of this policy, the Management section discusses key principles of the Kyocera Philosophy underpinning historical events; the Technology section describes innovations that became the driving force behind Kyocera's growth and development; and the Materials section includes a list of executives, management slogans, and sales, profit, and employment trends, providing a comprehensive history of the Kyocera Group's challenges and triumphs.
