On October 1, 1971, Kyocera was listed on the Second Section of the Osaka Securities Exchange and the Kyoto Securities Exchange. Although there was a way to achieve capital gains by selling stocks held by the founder on the market, Inamori chose to issue new shares instead, allowing all funds to enter the company without selling a single one of his shares. He believed that by increasing the company's capital and building a solid financial structure that could withstand intense economic fluctuations, it would be possible to protect the livelihoods of his employees in the future.

Inamori, who had always strived for the happiness of his employees since the company's founding, realized that, along with the listing, he also had to shoulder the happiness of those who supported the company. He shared this insight with his employees during a party celebrating the listing.

He stated, "With regard to this listing, here are my thoughts: I heard from various people related to us that Kyoto Ceramic is developing very well, and they suggested that we should be listed in the Osaka Second Section and Kyoto markets, which represent Japanese companies. They also told me that if Kyoto Ceramic listed its shares, it would receive high praise. In addition, they said that our teamwork, technical development capabilities, and global expansion are not inferior to any other company, and that we're a company that proudly represents Japan.

I was very happy to hear this, but at the same time, I felt heavy-hearted. We have been managing the company for the happiness of you all, including your families. However, with this listing, we will welcome not only our employees but also general investors who support us and purchase our shares. ... I feel overwhelmed thinking that I may have to keep running as a leader in the future. We have been thinking about the happiness of our employees, but from now on, we must consider and achieve happiness for all the people around us. I don't know whether to be happy or sad, but at least in this life, I feel like I'm carrying a huge responsibility for what I've done for the sake of others and the world."

"I have wonderful employees like you all. I am determined to work hard with all of you. If we come together and make an effort with this mindset, I believe we can have a wonderful future." (From "Challenge Toward the Boundless Future: Kyocera Group's 50-Year Journey")
