Management

Principle 1: Clearly State the Purpose and Mission of Your Business

Set high objectives that are noble, just and fair.

It's essential to clearly state the purpose and mission of your business. Some might start a business simply to make money or to support their family. However, these reasons alone can't unite a large workforce. The business's purpose should ideally be noble and transparent.

If you want your employees to work diligently, they must have a good cause. Without a noble purpose and cause, humans cannot earnestly give their utmost effort. An incident during the early days of our company brought the real purpose of the business into question, and employees threatened to quit while demanding guarantees for their future security.

After intense discussions over the span of three days and three nights, I realized that the true purpose of running a business is to ensure the well-being of the employees and their families. Management is about dedicating all your capabilities to ensure the happiness and well-being of the group. Companies must operate beyond anyone's personal interests and uphold a noble cause.

To rally your employees and gain their full support, your business must have a clear and noble purpose. This will also allow managers to lead with confidence and give their all at work.
