KYOTO, Japan - July 9, 2008 - Kyocera Corporation (President: Makoto Kawamura) (NYSE:KYO) is pleased to announce an updated USB-type modem for iBurst - a mobile broadband wireless access (MBWA) system. This small-sized gadget allows for various methods of connecting to PCs - either via USB cable or direct to a PC's USB port, bringing flexibility and convenience to users. The product will launch commercially in August.

"Kyocera will offer this new modem to extend the breadth of its iBurst portfolio of connectivity products for laptop and desktop computer users alike," said Mr. Masashi Yano, General Manager of the Corporate Communication System Equipment Division, Kyocera Corporation. "Kyocera is committed to offering iBurst users a broad and flexible array of modem modules, allowing more and more people to enjoy the power of broadband wireless connectivity. We will supply these products to end users through third-party suppliers' incorporating iBurst in products such as Wi-Fi routers and VoIP telephony equipment."

Kyocera's iBurst system has been field-proven by providing commercial services in more than ten countries worldwide. The iBurst-based technology was standardized as the IEEE802.20 - 625k MC mode in June 2008. Among other things, the iBurst system generates high spectrum efficiency of 32 Mbps total throughput per base station (24Mbps downlink; 8Mbps uplink) over just 5MHz* of bandwidth, which is crucial for feasible and economical MBWA rollout.

iBurst operators worldwide have formed the iBurst Association (iBA), a not-for-profit organization advocating the promotion and development of iBurst technology as a preferred MBWA solution.

*5MHz bandwidth is small enough to allocate in the GSM guard band.
