Kyocera has been actively working to introduce iBurst in Indian market based on the Broadband WG (Working Group) of India-Japan ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Forum.
The WG was established on April 2006 under the participation by government, industry and academy of both countries. Junichi Jinno, GM of Communication Systems Equipment Division, Kyocera Corporation was appointed as the Coordinator of the WG from Japanese side. On September 2006, 2nd WG was held in Chennai, India, and Kyocera presented how iBurst can contribute to the fast growth of broadband penetration in India.
Kyocera is also conducting the trial in Gurgaon, India from September for BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd), a 100% Government of India owned and largest Public Sector Undertaking in India. BSNL and Kyocera successfully completed technical trial and are currently conducting user trial.
On 8th November 2006, Kyocera hosted "iBurst Seminar" in New Delhi and Gurgaon, inviting officers from Ministry of Communication & IT and ICT related organizations. The detailed technical presentation and demonstration on the actual iBurst network were presented to the guests. It was the first time to officially introduce iBurst in India and all the guests experienced the true performance of the system.
Kyocera's activities based on India-Japan ICT Forum were welcomed as successful WG result in the Joint Statement, which was signed between the Prime Minister of India, H.E. Dr. Manmohan Singh and Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Mr. Shinzo Abe on 15th December 2006, during Dr.Singh's visit to Japan.
