High-speed printers are evaluated not only for consistent printing, as is
done for office printers. Downtime of printers for regular consumable parts replacement
and maintenance reduces the efficiency of the print shop. The a-Si drum enables
more continuous printing and increases the up-time of the printer because it retains
its initial characteristics over a very long life, thus reducing the frequency
of maintenance for drum replacement. This contributes to the total cost reduction.
Also, the a-Si drum is easy to handle. Operators of the printer can perform the
drum replacement.
