Highlights of the Christmas Illumination
The ethereal blue, white, green and orange LEDs illuminating the Kyocera headquarters and public garden area located in front of the building create a radiant Snowy Grove of Lights. The lights of the giant Christmas tree and the illumination of the garden area will decorate the crisp Kyoto winter evenings for all to enjoy. The Christmas Illumination welcomes in the holiday season and the coming new-year as a winter tradition for the community.
The light display consists of 187,000 energy-efficient LEDs and light bulbs which will paint the night in an illuminating array of colors. In its 12th year, the Kyocera headquarters Christmas Illumination has taken place each year since the building was erected in 1998; the display of lights was started for the enjoyment of the local community in the Fushimi-ku area of Kyoto. The garden area in front of the building provides a place of relaxation for the local community by offering beautiful scenery in all four seasons with an array of plants and flowers including weeping cherry blossoms, flowering dogwoods, Indian azaleas and camellias. For the Christmas Illumination, the whole area is decorated with a white snow covering and shimmering lights to create a secluded grove of radiant light.
Giant Christmas Tree
The Kyocera headquarters 20-story building (95 meters) is transformed into a giant Christmas tree by utilizing the window lighting to create the shape of a classic fir tree visible on both the east and west sides of the building. Flashing lamps, green and red lighting and a huge “Merry Christmas” sign complete the festive holiday scene which can be seen from near and far.
Christmas Mini Concert
A classical mini concert performed by the Seibo Gakuin Senior Middle & High School handbell chorus. Come to enjoy the heart-warming voices and harmonious sound of the handbells while viewing the Christmas Illumination display.
