(This document was translated from the Japanese press release.)
March 18, 2008

Kyocera Corporation (President: Makoto Kawamura) today announced that it will present funding for the Inamori Frontier Research Center at Kyushu University, as part of the university's 100th anniversary project.
Kyushu University is establishing the Inamori Frontier Research Center to foster collaboration among young researchers through activities that create harmony between advanced technology and the human spirit. In support of this effort, Kyocera Corporation will donate a total of 380 million yen to the center over five years to underwrite operating costs, starting with 100 million yen for the period of April 2008 through March 2009, and 70 million yen during each of the following four years.
The donation is being offered in the spirit of Kyocera Corporation's management rationale, which is: "To provide opportunities for the material and intellectual growth of all our employees, and through our joint effort, contribute to the advancement of society and humankind."
The company expects the center to gain worldwide attention for its research and development in fields that could contribute to the security and safety of human society and produce future Nobel Prize and Kyoto Prize recipients.
