Kyocera Corporation (President: Makoto Kawamura) announced that it is to commercialize the W44K, an ultra thin mobile phone terminal for au measuring just 15 mm, making it the thinnest among CDMA 1X WIN models for au*. The W44K features a design that specially targets comfortable portability, a basic feature of mobile phones. The design objectives created a slim body measuring just 15 mm, making it the thinnest among WIN models.*
The card-shaped square configuration and the straight line on the lateral side emphasize the slim design. Reinforced glass has been used in the main display and half mirror panel, thereby providing a high level of durability combines with highly aesthetic transparency.
To enhance the sound quality, the mobile phone is equipped with stereo speakers and uses DBEX, the cutting-edge signal processing technology. In this way, the W44K is packed with useful functions and features.

Design and form in pursuit of user friendliness
The Information Key is positioned beside the half-mirror panel and provides access to unique functions. The time, new calls and messages can be confirmed as soon as the mobile phone is taken out of a pocket or handbag, without the need to locate the side keys. This key is operated in combination with two side keys to start the au Music Player, EZ-FM and other functions without opening the handset. Furthermore, call answering and forwarding when a call arrives can be done according to the preset method simply by pressing the Information Key.
The Panel-shaped Frameless Keys are installed as a more sophisticated version of the frameless keys that have enjoyed widespread acceptance with the W31K. The kana (Japanese) and alphabet sections are lined up in a stepped arrangement and have different textures, thereby allowing vertically adjacent keys to be easily differentiated. This arrangement has also enhanced the visual appeal of the product.
Illumination"Neon Wave"
The "Neon Wave" is installed on the W44K. The six-colored ring illumination that flickers like a diffused lighting illuminates the mobile phone when music is played*2 or when an e-mail arrives.

The W44K supports "au Music Player" for enjoying music with just a mobile phone and "au Music Port" that enables music downloaded from a CD to personal computers to be forwarded to your mobile phone. Songs purchased on the web site of LISMO Music Store can be enjoyed casually on your mobile phone.
Equipped with DBEX, sound quality improvement technology
DBEX and other signal processing technologies have been combined to achieve a natural, high-quality sound that is comfortable to the ears.
