Kyocera Corporation (President: Makoto Kawamura) is pleased to announce that it is to commercialize the W43K, a mobile CDMA 1X WIN terminal for au equipped with the unique Sensor Ring Key, which combines a touch sensor and the four-direction key.
The Sensor Ring Key and the woofer-equipped desktop charger of the W43K enable the user to enjoy au's Listen Mobile Service (LISMO) with even more user friendliness. W43K special website and trial campaign
The user can try the model at a Special Website for the W43K (http://W43K.jp)[Japanese only]. Also, a Touch & Try Campaign will be held at KDDI Designing Studio from Saturday, September 16 to Sunday, September 24.
The W43K is a music mobile phone that supports au's Listen Mobile Service (LISMO).
The sub-display is equipped with the Sensor Ring Key that combines the four-direction key and a touch sensor. Moving your fingertips on the Sensor Ring Key displays the sub-menu on the standby screen without opening the handset. This operation activates a wide range of operations for listening to the music on the au Music Player, including list search and volume control. In this way, the W43K allows the user to enjoy music with unprecedented user friendliness.
The W43K is the world's first*1 mobile phone model equipped with "BBE®M3", the technology for improving sound quality optimized for mobile phones. This technology has enabled the W43K to achieve exceptional sound quality. It is also equipped with DBEXTM, the cutting-edge signal processing technology for producing high-quality sound that feels natural to the ears. The conventional configuration of the desktop charger has been revised to expand the volume of the woofer section, thereby providing a significant improvement in sound quality. Stereo earphones that offer superior sound quality are included in the package. The W43K can be used as a portable music player and also as an audio player by using the desktop charger, for enjoying the high-quality sound of LISMO.
The W43K is also compatible with FeliCa to support the Osaifu-Keitai® (quick payment) services, allowing the user to make payments with the mobile phone while shopping. To provide security, the W43K is equipped with the temporary lock release function that utilizes the Sensor Ring Key.

Sensor Ring Key that can be operated without opening the handset
In addition to range of operations for playing music, the key is capable of starting up EZ-FM and the FeliCa lock quick-release function when the Osaifu-Keitai® (quick payment) service is used. Also, the ring illumination that flickers like a diffused lighting illuminates the mobile phone when music is played *2 or when an e-mail arrives.

In addition to DBEX that corrects the overall frequency balance and provides a high-quality and realistic sound with a headphone and stereo speakers, the W43K is equipped with BBE® M3, in which the technologies for improving sound quality have been optimized for mobile phones, for the first time in the world.
Compatible with Osaifu-Keitai® (quick payment) service (equipped with FeliCa)
The mobile phone can be used for payment when shopping or eating out. In addition, it can be used as a membership card, a reward card or as a pass used on public transport. For security, the lock can be temporarily released when FeliCa is used by pressing the pre-defined keys on the Sensor Ring Key.
2.6-inch mobile ASV liquid crystal display
Clear contrast and a wide view have been achieved with the large 2.6-inch mobile ASV liquid crystal display. The transmissive LCD is also easy to see when used outdoors.
Design
The body design adopts futuristic image to add luxury touch like a high-quality digital audio devices.
The main plate that resembles a speaker net covers the entire terminal, and the sub-display is equipped with the metal Sensor Ring Key.
Color variation
The W43K features a high-quality design backed up with the new image of audio equipment that provides superior sound quality. Three color variations are available, namely Blue Turquoise with a shiny texture like jewelry, Night Black with the elegant image of an evening in the city and Shiny Silver with an eloquent texture that is a combination of various metals.
