Kyocera Corporation (President: Makoto Kawamura) today announced that it is to commercialize the W42K, a music mobile CDMA 1X WIN terminal as a new model for au. The W42K supports au's Listen Mobile Service (LISMO), which allows users to casually enjoy both music and analogue TV. This product is scheduled to be released in early June through au.

The W42K is a mobile phone that supports "au's Listen Mobile Service (LISMO)" and offers the user the pleasure of casually listening to music anywhere at anytime. This product provides a wide variety of services that are not available with a normal handset, such as listening to songs that have been bought in LISMO by using "au Music Player" on the mobile phone and sharing the music between the au mobile handset and a personal computer using music management software for the computer known as "au Music Port." A remote control equipped with a microphone that comes in the same color as the main body makes using LISMO more fashionable and convenient. It is also equipped with an analogue TV tuner that allows the user to enjoy watching TV on a high-resolution 2.4-inch mobile ASV liquid crystal display.

1-1. Support for au Listen Mobile Service
The W42K supports au Listen Mobile Service (LISMO) enabling the user to enjoy a wide range of music communication services.
A remote control equipped with a microphone that comes in the same color as the handset allows the user to turn on, start, stop, fast-forward and rewind the au Music Player and to control the volume without controlling the main body. The user can take a phone call while playing music with a remote control. It is also possible to turn on the FM radio, select a station and control the volume with the remote control.

EZ Chaku Uta Full®, music from CD and music bought at the special Internet site, LISMO Music Store can be casually played using the handset. The users can use UtatomoTM, a music communication service that searches for another person who is listening to the same music and has similar tastes. The service also creates a play list, performs test listening and facilitates the downloading of music.

The user can make a backup of EZ Chaku Uta Full® on the computer and forward the CD music downloaded onto their computer to the mobile phone. Music data is exchanged between the computer and the mobile handset by using the attached USB cable.
-LISMO Music Store
LISMO Music Store is the computer distribution site for EZ Chaku Uta Full®. The purchased music can be forwarded to the mobile handset where it can be played.
1-2. 3D surround-sound stereo speakers that provide realistic sound quality
The W42K features the DiMAGIC Virtualizer X® (DVX®) 3D surround-sound speakers. The speakers are located to provide a three-dimensional sound irrespective of whether the phone is closed or opened.
2. TV enjoyed on a beautiful 2.4 inch mobile ASV liquid crystal display (EZ TV is supported)
The product also features a mobile ASV liquid crystal display that features high contrast and a wide angle of view in addition to the large 2.4-inch QVGA screen that displays 260,000 colors. The unit displays clear, beautiful images even in bright sunlight.
The product supports EZ TV, enabling the user to record a program, acquire information on a program, search for the title of a song and set the timer to watch a program. The BGM function allows the user to write, read, send and receive mail and set the basic functions while listening to TV sound. Furthermore, the user can watch the TV from the optimum angle without holding the handset by using the stand attached to the back of the desktop holder.

The silent mode can be turned off via another telephone. In addition, the mobile phone can be locked remotely via another telephone to prevent another person from using it.
