Background
Milling is a process used at many manufacturing sites that cuts and shapes the metal parts. Cutting tool for milling process uses a revolving holder fitted with many cutters (blades) that cut a fixed metal material. Manufacturing sites are constantly struggling with the strict requirement for specifications and prices and are always in need of tools that combine both functional flexibility and cost efficiency.

Kyocera succeeded to develop 30 face mills of four different types with the aim of improving the flexibility and efficiency of milling tools based on the requests and suggestions by users. The new products will be introduced to the market in mid-April.

The new products offer a high level of cost efficiency thanks to their "octagonal" inserts. They also offer the ability to adjust the insert height when attaching the insert to the holder.

Product features
Highly flexible lineup to meet a variety of processing methods
The 30 face mills in four different types support strongly the cutting methods, namely, facing, slotting, chamfering and shouldering.
Product features

New octagonal insert
The MOF45 face adopts for the first time an eight-corner specification that employs new octagonal inserts, which reduce the processing unit cost.

The ability of simple-and-quick adjustment of the cutters
The MSE45-SF and MTE90-SF face mills adopt the simple mechanism to facilitate and speed-up adjustment of the cutter height. This mechanism contributes to reduce the preparation time and improve processing accuracy.
The cutter height can be readily adjusted using the screw.

The multiple-cutter design to improve the efficiency in processing
The MSE45 face mill series adds a model with extra cutters to offer higher productivity in cutting process.

Silver coating to improve body durability
The bodies of all the four types of face mills are coated with silver to prevent rust and wear caused by the chips, and to increase the durability of the holders.
