Kyocera Provides Funds for Inamori Academy of
Management & Technology at Kagoshima University

(This document was translated from the Japanese press release.)
June 15, 2005

Kyocera Corporation (Head Office: Kyoto, CEO: Yasuo Nishiguchi) and Kazuo Inamori, Kyocera Founder and Chairman Emeritus, have today announced that they will each donate 400 million yen to Kagoshima University (President: Yukihiro Nagata), making a total of 800 million yen.

The Kyocera Business Administration Lectures were established in the Faculty of Engineering at Kagoshima University in 1999 using a 200 million-yen donation from Kyocera. With the new donation bringing the total to one billion yen, these lectures will be further developed within the newly established, Inamori Academy of Management & Technology.

Inamori Academy of Management & Technology has been established to provide unique, unparalleled courses enabling students to learn business administration techniques, including Inamori's management philosophy, the amoeba management system and Kyocera accounting, as well as general management skills. The Academy is planning to establish a unique graduate school for cultivating talented people who will take their place in society. The Academy represents a significant contribution to society at large, as the institution will conduct academic research in relation to Inamori's management philosophy, and present the results so that they may proliferate through society.

Kyocera has three major component production plants in Kagoshima, and it has received the strong support of the local community in operating the plants. The decision to make the donation is based on the desire to contribute to the local community.

The institution is based on the management philosophy advocated by Kazuo Inamori, an international entrepreneur and founder of Kyocera and KDDI. It aims to produce advanced, highly ethical professionals to serve the world and humanity.

* The inauguration ceremony of Inamori Academy of Management & Technology and the commemorative seminar are being held in Kagoshima University today.
