On February 1, 2012, the 101st Dream Society, organized by Korean financial services network, Hana Financial Group, was held in Seoul, South Korea. Organizers expected 700 attendees, but approximately 1,000 gathered — mainly Korean business managers of small to mid-sized companies.
Dream Society holds lecture meetings for professionals in various fields, seeking to achieve an ideal society. In this 101st lecture meeting, Inamori gave a lecture entitled “Twelve Management Principles — The Universal Essence of Management Will Lead to a Company’s Development.”
At the beginning of the lecture, he discussed the path a manager must follow, saying, “It is important to recognize and uphold the fundamental principles of management especially as the business environment is currently in chaos.” He continued, “The Twelve Management Principles are the essence of management based on basic human thought. I believe it is universally understood beyond culture, language and company size.” He then proceeded to explain the twelve principles.
After the lecture, audiences deepened their understanding of Inamori’s management principles through a Q&A session: Dr. Inamori answered questions from Kim Jae-Chul, Chairman of Dongwon Group*1, and Chung Un-chan, Chairman of the Presidential Commission on Shared Growth for Large and Small Companies*2
