Kazuo Inamori received the Herb Klein Civic Leadership Award in San Diego, California, on February 7, 2007. The Herb Klein Civic Leadership Award, sponsored by the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp. (SDREDC), honors outstanding leaders in the San Diego area. This was the fourteenth award presentation and Kazuo Inamori was the first Japanese-national recipient.
The award was presented in recognition of contributions made by the Kyocera International Group (the local Kyocera Group companies) to the San Diego community over many years. These contributions include the Inamori Foundation's supporting of the annual Kyoto Prize Laureate Symposium in San Diego, and presentation of the six annual Kyoto Prize Scholarships awarded to local high school students from San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. |
