On May 21, 2006, Kazuo Inamori received an honorary doctorate degree in engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. He was honored for both his principles, which are exemplified by his belief that "People have no higher calling than to serve the greater good of humankind and society," and for his philanthropic work including the Kyoto Prize. Through the Kyoto Prize he has contributed to the progress of science and technology as well as helping to advance the spirituality of humankind. A new "Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence" is being planned at Case Western Reserve University, where the curriculum emphasizes the importance of ethics. |
