Ritsumeikan Inamori Philosophy Research Center Holds 2nd International Symposium
On December 8, 2016, the Ritsumeikan Inamori Philosophy Research Center hosted its 2nd International Symposium at the Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus in Osaka, Japan.
Building upon the inaugural symposium held in March 2016, this event focused on the theme of "Realizing a Society Based on Inamori Philosophy," with discussions including the final and interim reports of the first and second periods, respectively, of the Center's Inamori Philosophy research projects.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Kazuo Inamori gave a warm welcome to the 200 participants, stating that he was "very much looking forward to candid and active discussions on the shape of a society based on the idea of Rita (the altruistic mind), so that we may be able to contribute, even in a small way, to the progress and advancement of humankind and society."
A panel discussion was held with participation by Professor Emeritus Ikujiro Nonaka of Hitotsubashi University; Professor John Zhuang Yang, Dean of the Beijing International MBA Program at Peking University (BiMBA); and professors from major universities in Japan and the UK - helping to deepen the understanding of symposium participants.
