Dubai. A vibrant, modern city of phenomenal growth; a true 21st century hub of commerce and business which has re-defined the very meaning of the world progress.
But still a city that holds true to its proud Arabian heritage and time-honored traditions, despite its breathtaking transformation.
Accordingly, it is this theme - of timeless values which never die - which lies at the heart of the Real Dubai Collection.
This theme is represented by the four fundamental elements of fire, water, gold and earth, all of which are reflected in the colors and designs of the Real Dubai Collection.
This striking series is also notable for the masterly and intricate technique of zougan, also known in the West as “damascening” - the art of inlaying with gold or silver. |

Design Pattern for “Real Dubai” |
 |
 |
Ichimatsu :
This famous Kimono design consists of dark and light squares or rectangles in a checked pattern. It is named after the famous 18th century kabuki actor Sanokawa Ichimatsu who popularized the design by wearing it on his traditional Japanese hakama, or trousers. The Ichimatsu pattern has become an internationally recognized design and has even been sampled by leading fashion houses; most notably Louis Vuitton, who based his famous Damier Canvas and Monogram Canvas series upon the Ichimatsu. In the Real Dubai Collection then, the Ichimatsu pattern represents the human element of life, achievement and creation. |
 |
Wave Pattern :
Life-giving and sustaining, water is the most important of all the elements. Man, and life itself, cannot survive without it. In the Wave Pattern, a series of gentle, soothing ripples spreads out from the centre which is crowned by a beautiful star sapphire. The design is reminiscent of a spring or a well in the desert; a source of healing and nourishment, but also of knowledge and wisdom to those in its vicinity. The star sapphire also represents Dubai itself - a regional and international centre of influence whose waves of progress affect all around it. In the Real Dubai Collection then, the “Wave Pattern” represents the comfort, solace and knowledge-giving properties of water. |
 |
Shibuki :
Shibuki means “ocean spray” in Japanese. This design evokes not only the beauty of the sea, but also its vital power and robust energy. The spray of the ocean wave is a commonly depicted image in Japanese art, symbolizing fertility and purity. Like Japan, Dubai shares strong emotional and practical ties to the sea. Both countries have proud maritime traditions with the ocean being the fundamental background to Dubai's history as a trading port. Accordingly, in the Real Dubai Collection, Shibuki represents the vigor, force and creativity of nature. |
