1955 Bachelor of Sciences, Applied Chemistry, Kagoshima University
Career Highlights:
April 1955 Joined an insulator manufacturing company 'Shofu Industries' in Kyoto and started working as an engineer.
Dec. 1958 Left Shofu Industries.
April 1959 Established 'Kyoto Ceramic Co., Ltd. (later renamed Kyocera Corporation)' with a capital of 3 million yen and 28 staff members.
First title - Director and General Manager for Engineering
May 1966 Appointed President of the company.
July 1969 Established 'Kyocera International, Inc.' in San Diego, CA, U.S.A.
July 1983 Started the activity of 'Seiwajyuku Management School.'
April 1984 Established 'The Inamori Foundation' on a private property.
June 1984 Established 'DDI Corporation' responding to deregulation of Japan's telecommunications industry.
Appointed Chairman of the Board.
June 1985 Appointed Chairman of the Board of Kyocera Corporation.
Feb. 1991 Appointed Chair of the committe on 'Japan's Position in the International Community' within the 3rd Special Administrative Reform Comittee (-1993).
Jan. 1995 Assumed the chairmanship of the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry to work for the city (-2001).
Nov. 1996 Established 'The U.S.-Japan 21st Century Committe' with an American thinktank CSIS.
June 1997 Resigned Chairman of the Board and was appointed Founder and Chairman Emeritus (without the right of representation) at both of Kyocera and DDI.
Sep. 1997 Entered the Buddhist priesthood (given a priest name - 'Dai-wa').
Oct. 2000 DDI merged with IDO and KDD (later renamed 'KDDI').
Title changed to Chairman Emeritus.
June 2001 Resigned Chairman Emeritus of KDDI.
Appointed Honorary Adviser.
