Reduction of Industrial Waste Associated with the Production of Solar Power Generating Systems |

| Waste acid and waste alkali produced in the surface treatment process of solar power generating systems are treated in wastewater treatment facilities. We have reduced the amount of wastewater produced by reviewing the process and extending the life of chemical solutions. We also reduced about 227 tons of sludge annually by reducing wastewater treatment agents through wastewater reduction and controlling the injection of agents by installing flow meters. |

Proper Waste Disposal |

| Thorough investigations were conducted of companies providing waste disposal services, including financial stability and on-site surveys according to the "treatment work management standard for waste," in which proper disposal and management of waste are specified. Even after signing a contract with a waste-treatment company, field surveys of these disposal companies are conducted twice a year. In FY2011, we conducted field surveys and exchanged information with 172 companies. |

Introduction of Complex Intermediate Waste Processing Facility |

| The complex intermediate waste processing system was introduced to dry sludge after dewatering, and vaporize waste acid and waste alkali at the same facilities with the heat happens by burning combustibles, waste oil and waste solvents. This system allowed us to reduce the waste drastically. |

Toner Effluent Treatment System |

| The KYOCERA Document Solutions Inc. Tamaki Plant installed Freezing Concentration & Ice Thermal Storage System which treat toner effluent. Using the principle where turbid water is turned into ice and separated into ice and impurities, this system freezes and concentrates toner-discharged water using electricity at night and melts clean ice using cryogenic heat during the day. This system also innovates energy saving technology. For example, thawed water is collected and recycled as makeup water for cooling water. |

| We previously used specialized vendors for treating waste liquids produced form CVD equipment, as this industrial waste is subject to strict regulations, Installing waste liquid treatment equipment resulted in an annual reduction of 196 tons of this waste. |
