The Kyocera Museum of Fine Ceramics

The Kyocera Museum of Fine Ceramics

As part of our cultural activities, we opened The Kyocera Museum of Fine Ceramics on the second floor of our global headquarters' building in October 1998. This museum showcases the growth of Kyocera's fine ceramic technologies since the company's founding. It is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of ceramics, not only for students and researchers, but for everyone of all ages. In the showroom, you can learn the history of Kyocera's business expansion and our latest products in a wide range of fields.

Global Headquarters Building and Museums
Products for Global Environmental Preservation
Kyocera has developed many products that use solar energy and fine ceramic technologies to promote environmental preservation. This exhibit features a prototype solar car and an energy monitor showing the actual amount of electricity generated by the solar power generating system at Kyocera's global headquarters in real time.
Fine Ceramic Technology: The Fundamentals
Do you know the difference between "ceramics" and "fine ceramics?" This section explains the basics of fine ceramics, including the basic aspects of materials and processing technologies. An adjoining display shows the history of ceramic products ? from the earthenware of Japan's Jyomon Period through the various basic ceramics handed down to the present, up to the emergence of today's fine ceramics.
The Evolution of Fine Ceramic Technology
Many products developed by Kyocera are displayed chronologically since the company's founding in 1959. The changes in fine ceramic technology are explained by showing actual Kyocera components; the finished products that incorporate them; and chronological tables illustrating the background of the times.
Experiencing Fine Ceramics
What are "fine ceramics"? Please experience them through our virtual experiments and picture booths ? including a model that makes it easy to understand the fine ceramic manufacturing process. You can also see patterned carvings excavated from ancient China and a section introducing other highly artistic ceramic products.
Showroom
The showroom introduces Kyocera's current business and products. The very latest items in Kyocera's broad product line are on display, including all types of industrial machinery parts and electronic components, as well as mobile phones, printers, medical materials, jewelry and specialized household goods.
