iBurstTM System for Automotive ITS Applications
Research and development efforts in the realm of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are employing the latest innovations from the fields of communications and Information Technology. By integrating three essential elements — driver, road and vehicle — ITS promises to revolutionize the automobile in such vital areas as safety, traffic management, energy efficiency and emissions.
Kyocera is committed to supporting ITS technology with advanced R&D and applied product development.
We are actively participating in ISO TC204 Working Group 16, which is working to adopt international standards so appropriate infrastructures may be developed for ITS systems — including the potential deployment of the iBurstTM System wireless broadband technology and other 3G communications systems.
ISO TC204/WG15: Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) standardization
ISO TC204/WG16: Contiguous Air-Interface Long and Medium range (CALM) standardization |

| As one example of how new technologies may support ITS deployment, the working group recently proposed a traffic safety system based on vehicular-vehicular and infrastructure-vehicular wireless broadband communication systems. Kyocera will continue to focus its research and development resources on supporting this promising market. |
